Project Spotlight: Luxe Master Suite

  • Bath Renovation

In this project, we designed and built a modern master bathroom with plenty of space and amenities to spare.

The original master bathroom was dark, tight space, and was lacking in modern features. The large jacuzzi tub and shower took up unnecessary space, as well as the in-bathroom linen closet. The single vanity was lacking in storage, and made it difficult for more than one person to be in the space at a time. Our client wanted an open, airy, and uncluttered space, with a modern look.

First, in order to enlarge the space, Gardner/Fox removed the small linen closet and pushed into the hallway that lead from the master bedroom to the owner’s closet and bath. This extended the room an extra 51 square feet, which was all that we needed to create an open and airy space.

To begin, we installed porcelain floor tile, for a clean crisp look. Next, came the installation of the gorgeous beveled crystal chandelier, which gave the space a touch of luxury (not to mention the matching crystal pendants that line the vanity and make-up counter).

After lights, came the most important elements, the shower and tub! We used the expanded space to create a glass enclosed shower, with gloss white tiles and river shell accent bands made from freshwater shells. The shower features a Kohler Digital Showering system, that provides control over all of the shower components, including the ultra-massage body jets and rain shower head. The freestanding tub is the perfect place to soak after a long day at work. It features an extra deep basin, plus a tub filler and detachable sprayer.

After the plumbing came the custom built-in cabinetry and vanity, with his and hers sinks! This provided our home owner with the storage they needed, while also doubling the original amount of counter space. The dark wood built-in cabinetry provides a bold contrast to the Calcutta Nuvo quartz counter tops, and the Swarovski crystal knobs give even the drawers a touch of luxury.

Across from the vanity, sits a perfectly sized floating make-up counter, with extra storage space and matching quartz counter top.

There you have it, a modern spa bathroom, with space to spare, and plenty of options for relaxation. To see more pictures, check out our houzz page!

Our history

This business, like many small businesses, evolved from a friendship between two ambitious young professionals. Brook Gardner, an engineer from Virginia, and Mark Fox, an architect from Kentucky, discovered a common interest in designing and renovating buildings when they became neighbors in Center City, Philadelphia. They founded their own design and consulting firm in 1987, which has grown into Gardner/Fox.
