Your First Look: The New Covenant Church of Philadelphia

Construction at The New Covenant Church of Philadelphia: Children and Family Center is complete. Color abounds in the newly finished addition, complete with four new classrooms, multiple offices, restrooms, and a cafe.

Designed by Giresi Design, the 6,200 sq. ft. facility began as a dilapidated and unusable space. To create a functional addition to the church it required the installation of new electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. The also included upgraded ADA-compliant restrooms and service closet.

The facility has new finishes from floor to ceiling. Vinyl flooring was installed throughout the addition, to provide high endurance and low maintenance flooring. Many of the classrooms include unique lighting or dropped ceilings for visual appeal.

In the modern cafe, all new commercial grade appliances were installed to assure the kitchen could provide for the whole congregation. In addition to new cabinetry, full-size pantries were built into the walls around the cafe space.

We are excited to see the completed space, full of furniture and ready to host the full congregation! To see more images of the facility, check out the project on Flickr.

Our history

This business, like many small businesses, evolved from a friendship between two ambitious young professionals. Brook Gardner, an engineer from Virginia, and Mark Fox, an architect from Kentucky, discovered a common interest in designing and renovating buildings when they became neighbors in Center City, Philadelphia. They founded their own design and consulting firm in 1987, which has grown into Gardner/Fox.
