Philadelphia, PA – Dream Home Awards has awarded 33 builders, architects, designers, developers and tradesmen from across the nation for their excellence in a variety of areas. The awards, honoring trend-setting products and technology from the past year, were given to professionals who have helped take the home building industry to a new level. Winners received recognition in the June issue of hab-i-ta-tion Design Magazine.
The George Woodward Company’s development, Springfield Green, took home the Urban In Fill Project of the Year award for 4 environmentally friendly twin homes located in the historic Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. At just 1,913 sq. ft., the LEED-H Platinum Certified homes feel spacious due to abundant daylight, creative built-ins, indoor-outdoor connections, and an attention to how people flow through the spaces. Passive design strategies, such as optimizing day lighting and creating an innovative airtight thermal envelope coupled with active systems such as 275-foot standing-wells for the geothermal heat pump. Durable exterior materials reflect and respect the existing historic structures.
Gardner/Fox, The George Woodward Company and Re:Vision Architecture received the award based on factors such as quality of design, livability, sustainability and the ability to provide healthy and nurturing environments for consumers. Dream Home Awards aims to assist and encourage building industry leaders to develop innovative homes and products.
