Gardner/Fox would like to recognize Mayfield Gardners, Main Line Electrical, Borzell & Norbury and all the businesses listed above, for their generous partnership with us in support of the Main Line community. All have pledged their support in various ways to make the renovation of the Radnor Township Civic Association (RTCA) building a reality.

For those of you unfamiliar with the RTCA, it was founded in 1932 to provide relief to community members hit hardest by the great depression. The building was purchased in 1942 and has served as the central hub for the African American community in Radnor ever since. Over the years, the hall has hosted numerous weddings, picnics and celebrations and is the only black-owned community center on the Main Line.

Unfortunately, the building has begun to show its age despite proper maintenance and upkeep. Since the cost of labor has grown significantly, RTCA has turned to the community for help. Gardner/Fox, along with 15 other generous business and community leaders have answered the call!

Gardner/Fox will provide all of the design and architectural services required and will support Villanova University students who will be coming in to help with the construction effort. “We are so pleased to see the community come together to make this happen” says Gardner/Fox founding partner and architect Mark Fox. “It’s refreshing to see so many people offering their time and talents because they care about the history and vibrancy of this community.”

The renovation plan includes the addition of a wheelchair-accessible ramp, age-related adjustments to plumbing and electrical systems, and additional modifications necessary to make the entire building ADA compliant.
