One of the first things you notice when you enter a room is lighting, whether intentional or not, our eyes are drawn to them…well moths to a lamp. Being one of the first things we notice in a room, lighting choices have the ability to set the style tone.

We’ve found inspiration in custom glass light fixtures, versatile and unique, these pieces can find their place in any style environment. Literally any style. Do you love a fun eclectic space with lots of textures? Are you into sharp lines with metallic accents? Do you prefer a balanced minimalist look? Done, done, and done.

Because art glass is hand blown, each piece is one-of-a-kind and adds a personal touch. A few of the options you have when looking at lighting are the texture, color, size, and finish.

The texture of a glass chandelier can play up or tone down the statement appeal. Elaborately etched designs are going to draw more attention than clear glass. It can further complement and enhance the style of a space, like a rustic seeded globe in a rustic or industrial space. The final thing to consider is the thickness of the glass or opacity of the texture, which can cause the fixture to give off a softer light.

Adding color to your light can additionally help your fixture stand out or blend in. Creating a multi-color piece can serve to incorporate in accent colors, or just add some personality and fun!

Different blowing techniques and oil rubs can provide super sleek and shiny globe, while some leave you with a softer matte look. Just another thing to think about when discussing your personalized piece.

Of course, the hardware finish of the fixture will play a huge role in the design of the light. Once again, you can use the chandelier to accent or contrast the space. With a variety of tones and textures, including matte black, the possibilities are endless.

If you’re interested, but not convinced, pendants make a perfect choice! They make it easy to mix your lighting up, accent your space, and add layers of personality. They add a pop of color or texture without completely overwhelming a space.

Our history

This business, like many small businesses, evolved from a friendship between two ambitious young professionals. Brook Gardner, an engineer from Virginia, and Mark Fox, an architect from Kentucky, discovered a common interest in designing and renovating buildings when they became neighbors in Center City, Philadelphia. They founded their own design and consulting firm in 1987, which has grown into Gardner/Fox.
