Can you believe we made it to week 7!!! Hard to imagine that only a month and a half ago the bathroom looked like this…

And now we’re living our best life with this!

This week I went to work sourcing accessories for our fabulous powder room! You know how they always say the “the devil is in the details,” well let me tell you, he must be a somewhat decent guy because I had no trouble finding what I envisioned…although I did have to jump around between tabs on my browser. Anyway!
I wanted to focus on our metal choices first because they require a little more work than picking out hand towels. Plus, a hand towel isn’t going to look nice if it isn’t on something decadent in this bathroom. As you know, I love Restoration Hardware (it’s honestly a rare site on my computer when their tab isn’t open) so I went exploring to see find an option that would work with our new plumbing fixtures. Don’t you know I found the decadent Lugarno Hardware collection! It was exactly what I was looking for..only better. It’s chunky, statement-making, and is “reminiscent of European hotels”…how could it be wrong?
Since we decked most of our space with gold and I wanted to avoid mixed metals I chose the Aged Brass finish. They’re a perfect accent to our plumbing and those fabulous knobs and backs from Eddie Ross.

I know I outfitted the space with all of the hard accessories, so my mind instantly went to soft goods, AKA window treatments. You know how much Hubby hates that window, even though no one can see him, so I decided roman shades..decadence. I wanted to find something soft and avoided anything that would take any attention from my House of Hackney wallpaper. One of our design consultants showed me the Dhara Stripe fabric in Plum from Thibaut and I was hooked! It’s got personality, but it’s less of a “go out and party” and more of a “stay in and read” type of gal.
I contacted the shade store to have them fabricated, and I have some bad news…due to backed-up project installations, the shade will not be here until July, a few weeks past the end of the ORC. I’m trying not to cry about it, just kidding, but I am a bit disappointed. Darn, you COVID-19!
After that news, I decided to cheer myself up with hand towel shopping! I know I’ve introduced you all to our baby girl Betty, but I don’t think Rory has ever made an appearance.

This is our handsome young Frenchman, Rory. He has a Frenchie attitude, and in order to appease his highness, I found these cute monogrammed towels from The Robin’s Nest. It’s just a personal touch, but one with a little extra luxury.

As I pulled the space together I felt like something was missing..but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I had one of our design consultants over for a sneak peek (Hi Ellyn!), and she hit the nail on the head. The area next to the toilet was totally bare, and she suggested adding a little something to fill it in. If you know me, and you’ve been following our story here, I think you know that something “little” or “tiny” doesn’t quite fit my powder room’s motif.
She suggested something a little grander, and I had to oblige because she was speaking my language. She found a rustic column from Life’s Patina, and it was love at first sight. We placed the order and in a week our friend arrived in all of its glory. I decided to try out a light seafoam coat of paint, to try to pull out some of the green in our wallpaper, but it ended up being too light. Not to fear, we decided that it shall be painted white or black (I guess you’ll have to find out next week), so it won’t be the loudest thing in the room. I’m also working on a topper..we were playing around with a fern, but we think it’s a bit too big…thoughts?

Just kidding, or am I? I guess you’ll have to find out next week with our big reveal!! While you wait check out the other designers at the ORC blog! Click here or at the link below. There are some awesome projects that have to see, they’ve come a long way from 7 weeks ago.
