Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania - Gardner/Fox built a 9,000 square foot state-of-the-art culinary arts center within a vacant retail space. Viking requested three separate kitchens with a presentation kitchen for guest chef demonstrations, a participation kitchen for hands-on cooking classes, and a large commercial preparation kitchen for employee use. The construction of a retail area allows Viking to sell cookbooks, food and kitchen tools.
The presentation kitchen features a theater area with overhead television equipment and mirror for cooking classes. Five levels of seating allow for unobstructed visibility during chef demonstrations. All three kitchens include Corian and Ceasar stone countertops. The labor-intensive wall finishing includes a base coat, top coat and glaze for an antiqued appearance. Custom distressed mill work, Rutt and Heritage cabinetry, custom floor tile and custom lighting fixtures complete the project.
Extensive mechanical systems include Ansul fire protection and a ten-zone heating/cooling system with make-up air.
